NYE 2012

Happy New Years Eve Pretties!

I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and made fun new memories with friends and family!  It's the last day of 2012... Are you feeling motived? Energized? Ready to take on 2013? We are!

We had quite a productive final weekend to cap off the year:

Violet created these sweet designs for a darling wedding Friday night at The River House at Lowndes Grove. Congrats to newlyweds Paige and Sam Martin!

I am booking up for the Spring but still have a few dates left! Contact me if you would like to chat flowers :) tricia@violetcharleston.com

Sunday was annual "Cleaning Day" for Dee Ruel Paper and Jewelry! The shop is sparkling from head to toe! And after some serious elbow grease, we celebrated with a few high fives and some brewskis!

SIDENOTE: Just treated myself to this amazing coordinate bracelet marking the place where I met, and fell in love with my better half. It is so special to me and if you have a sweet little location in your heart, contact Dee Ruel and place an order. Only $50 for a custom design!

PHEW... time for a NYE beverage: Peach Champagne Cocktails anyone?

Good Giving

Good Morning Pretties!

With all of the hurt going on in the world and the holiday right around the corner, I am sure I am not alone in feeling a constant sorrow for those going through such hard times.

My thoughts: Perhaps we may already have everything we want and need this Christmas?  Maybe there is something even "little ole' me" can to do help shed some light, love and compassion for others? Maybe there is something we can ALL do?

Today I urge anyone who may be reading this to GIVE (in a small but mighty way) this week.  It may seem too small to matter, but I assure you that no simple act of kindness or generosity is ever to small to  change someone's day for the better and help give them a sense of love and hope.

A few small ways that we can all make a huge impact:

1.) Take a minute to donate to the Sandy Hook Relief Fund. Click the link below to make a donation: Sandy Hook Relief Fund

2.) Quietly pay for the person's coffee who is behind you in line. Or... even better,  pick up their lunch tab and have the waitress tell them "Your lunch was paid for by the person before you! Happy Holidays".

3.) Take the time to help or talk to an elderly person or maybe a mother who is juggling her toddlers and shopping bags while out in the holiday craze. Sometimes just asking someone how their day has been or if you could help walk them to their car can be a breath of fresh air.

4.) For just $30 help give a needy child a box full of great gifts to open this Christmas: Operation Christmas Child. These children have nothing. The smiles and gratitude shown on their faces when they open their boxes are priceless!

5.) Shop local and leave meaty tips. Help support those in your community that work to provide amazing businesses for the members of your town.  Let your mail carrier, babysitter, dry cleaner, barista, etc. know that you appreciate them! Also, tipping high and wide is a generous way to share the love!

Love,
T

Ellery Wedding

Good Morning Pretties,

What a weekend! I was honored (and ecstatic) to design wedding flowers for the sweetest most beautiful couple (both inside and out). Justin and Anne tied the knot Saturday at Lowndes Grove Plantation here in Charleston. Their day was picture perfect! The idyllic and intimate setting couldn't have been more romantic. Enjoy a peek at some of their luscious blooms.

Will You...

Good Morning Pretties,

It's that time of year... love is in the air and proposals are "popping" up left and right! What a fun and festive time to make the biggest promise of your life. Call me a sap, but I get chills every time I hear about an engagement. So exciting!

Here are a few fun proposal pics that I couldn't help but share! (I had to include us of course!)

Us :)

A thing or two you may not know about the "Engagement Ring":

1.  Engagement rings are traditionally worn on the fourth finger of the left hand, because the Ancient Egyptians believed that it contained a vein which led to the heart.
2. Incidentally, the average man spends around one to three months shopping for the perfect ring!
3. The average woman’s ring size is about 6. The average man’s ring size is about 10.
4. The smallest engagement ring on record was given to two-year-old Prince Mary, daughter of Henry VIII, on the event of her betrothal to the infant Dauphin of France, son of King Francis I, in 1518. Mary’s tiny gold ring was set with a diamond.

1. I have never had a traditional 9-5 office job.
2. I go to the movies a lot, but never watch them at home.
3. I have never smoked anything, not even a cigarette.
4. I have had (and will always have) a huge crush on Tom Brokaw.
5. Leftovers stay in my fridge until it is time to throw them out. I almost never eat them.
6. Organization is not my thing. Seriously my brain is like one of those crazy jump castles.
7. I don't mind traveling by myself.
8. I can not get through the day with out at least 3 ice teas and one hot one.
9. When I was little I used to play with the peacocks, buffalo and ostriches at my uncle's house (he lived in the middle of town).
10. Corn is my least favorite food. I would not eat it if you wrote me a check for a million dollars.

10 Things You Didn't Know About Trish:

1. I like to wear at least one turquoise thing everyday.
2. Rubber bands make me cringe. I hate the smell. I won't touch them.
3. I met my husband at the Charleston airport. He grew up 30 miles from my hometown.
4. Diet Coke and french fries are my comfort food.
5. I listen to music extremely loud in the mornings while I get ready. (maybe I sing along too?)
6. I love small cozy homes with big front porches.
7. I ran sprints for the Michigan State women's track team in college.
8. My favorite Pandora stations are Van Morrison, Jackson Browne, Bruce Springsteen and Bob Seger.
