My favorite coordinates - approximately 32.78 N and 79.81 W - my grandparents' dock on Isle of Palms. The dock has been around since before my time. I grew up crabbing, shrimping, fishing, skiing, boating all at that dock with my family and friends. And now on April 6th I will be marrying my best friend on that dock. I cannot think of a place that could be more memorable. It is precious to me.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this is predictable, but I'd choose the place I got married almost six years ago--Symmes Chapel at Camp Greenville, known to most as Pretty Place. A cool blue September afternoon dotted with clouds and swooping red hawks, shared with beloved friends and family.
ReplyDeleteIt's not only the place I made a commitment to stand beside my husband for always, but it's the place where, as a camp counselor, I watched the sun rise countless mornings, camped out on the roof (against the rules!) to watch for shooting stars, sang and clapped on Sunday morning chapel days...it's simply a benchmark place for me.
Truly a holy place for me, a place deserving of remembering in such a lovely way.
I think I would choose Santiago, Chile. It's where my husband is from and where his family still lives. We have 2 little girls and try to stay connected to his family as best we can. We've traveled to Chile with them twice. It would be a nice reminder...

ReplyDeleteThis is our "retirement present" for my husband's (5 year out) upcoming military retirement. He is a pilot and through every deployment, training, separation, or hardship that comes our way, I think of how wonderful it will be to sit in the glorious, peaceful mountains sipping coffee alone or with friends visiting. I think of the quality time we can make up for skiing or hiking or watching the glorious Colorado sunrises. I would also love to wear the reminder on my wrist now so I am reminded to choose wisely financially as I go about my daily work so that this retirement looks as fabulous as it possibly can!

Thanks for doing another coordinates giveaway, Dee! I would choose the coordinates of Rockford Lutheran High School in Rockford, IL. I transferred there my senior year and met my husband 16 years ago in those halls. We then dated for the next 3 years of college, broke up but became best friends, and 2 years ago we got back together as a couple, married, and I moved away from my beloved Charleston to be with him in Rockford. We now live next to the high school and that is the school where our future kiddos will attend. We me there, had our first kiss in the parking lot, etc... Those coordinates have come full circle and it only took a few short years. 16 to be exact!

My coordinates would be my place of birth - Southern Baptist Hospital (now Memorial Hospital - one of the hospitals that figured prominently during Katrina) in New Orleans, LA. It's interesting to look at the hospital you were born in as the place of my first earthly experience. The address is 2700 Napolean Ave. New Orleans, LA 70115.

I've been looking everywhere for something like this! I'm so happy I found your page. I met my boyfriend at college back when he was my older brother's roommate : ) We've been together for 2 years, but this past Christmas, he moved to Massachusetts to go back to school. While we're 1000 miles apart now and I miss him terribly, I look forward to moving out to be with him again after I finish my last two years of graduate school. Until then, wearing his coordinates (41.64° N, 70.93° W) on my wrist will remind me to stay positive and look to the future for the time when I can be with him again.
