Winter Wrap Up.

Good Morning Pretties!

First of all if anyone is still out there, I apologize for sucking at this. It was so fun when Trish was doing it and we would collaborate on ideas she would write this dang thing...that being said, if any of you want to take over this blog..there will be always be jewelry in your future :)

One of my favorite things about this season is giving. Not just gifts, but giving love, patience, time, and moments. I wish we could all just give more of each other.  I am misty eyed writing this and thinking about the people that I love in this world and the only thing that I want from them..is them. People love giving gifts though and I am never opposed to receiving something really special and thoughtful. (my favorite being the pajamas that my sister and I have been giving each other for about 15 years now!)

Below are some of my most favorite holiday wrapping ideas from around the web...Some of these are oldies but still goodies!

Classic Wedding Jewels. Southern Style.

Good Afternoon Pretties!

Happy Fall!! I am a little late on this blog post, but the technology world has been ruining mine. I am back on track and look forward to my upcoming season, before I get all Christmas-y with my posts.. I wanted to share a little photo shoot that I did with the ahhmazing Jennings King! I love doing trade and she was looking forward to getting a little jewelry in her life and I wanted some updated wedding jewelry photos. I am excited to share this with you, it was a fun, quick, and hot afternoon! We used her wedding china, my vintage linens and bottles, and even my Memere's and Pepere's wedding photo. I loved being in her calm presence and getting to squeeze her sweet Miller's cheeks!

Sweet Summer Time

Labor Day weekend is always a little bitter sweet for me.  As a kid the anticipation of school, the new year, new friends, new outfits and a new sports season kept me reeling for a whole month. Now as an adult, I look forward to the humidity lying down in Charleston and having the beach back to ourselves. Mentally I am preparing myself for the upcoming holiday season. But I can never let summer go. I thoroughly enjoyed mine even with all the rain! Trips to Maine and North Carolina made it even sweeter. Since I love a list here is a little list of what I did this summer. ..

I went to Maine for our annual family vacation.  It gets better every year.
I watched The Notebook for the very first time… I know.
Took up yoga. Finally. Yin Yoga is my new homie.
Got caught in the rain at least 5 times.
I decided to get better at surfing. I surfed almost every weekend and have improved like a champ. Thank you for all the help Josh Wilson!
Fell in love with my future (hopefully) nieces and nephew. Fell even more in love with my existing nephew Robbie.
Ate a shrimp burger at El’s Drive In.
I saw old friends and made new ones.
Tried smoked mullet – the jury is still out on that one!
I collected shells, sea glass and heaps of other misc. treasures this summer
I did yoga under the oaks, and two hour yoga for the honeybees.
I drank plenty of painkillers and ate too many nachos at Hometeam.
Rode my bike in the warm (hot) sun.
Decided that I like Kale. Went  through 2 punch cards at Verde since June.
Sipped wine on the  porch and gossiped with best friends.
I got 3 product placements on different TV shows and movies. Yay!
Went off shore but did not catch a darn fish. There is a first for everything.
Watched as many sunsets as possible.
Cooked a breakfast feast for the fam every morning on vacation. Thanks to my sous chef Robbie Coda.
Went to see as much live music that I could. Donovan being my favorite!
Celebrated Birthdays, engagements and good friends.

It was a fun and relaxing summer. I hope that I can carry my summer vibe into the fall and winter season. Don’t worry you fall lovers, pumpkin flavored everything is on its way!

goodbyes, manifestos and new beginnings

Good Afternoon Pretties,

It has been too many moons since this blog has been giving any attention, mostly because Tricia and her hubby have relocated to Denver :( Soooo if any of you Colorado lovelies need a good florist don't walk RUN to see her! Her blog and website should be up soon and there will be a guest post on here following. That being said, I plan on keeping this puppy going. Thankfully this is my slower season and I can take the time to re-evaluate where I am going with my business, life and future. Katy is my new/old shop girl and I am excited to get to work with her again. I created a manifesto for you to get to know me a little bit. I love lists. Therefore you will see a whole heap of lists on this bloggity blog. Here we go. Dee's first blog post. Enjoy :)

My Manifesto

I believe that most days should end with a sunset.

I believe in digging deep for anything and everything.

I believe in mixed metals, design, and asymmetry.

I believe in reusing, repurposing and finding treasures on the side of the road.

I believe that Maine will always have the softest spot in my heart.

I believe in supporting local artists and showing up to their events.

I believe in really good wine.

I believe in spending my free time in, on, or near the ocean.

I believe nothing beats a cup of tea & a cozy blanket.

I believe in honesty. laughter and a good swear word.

I believe that it should be about the marriage and not the wedding.

I believe any shade of the color blue will soothe your soul.

I believe in lip gloss, a favorite pair of sandals, & statement jewelry.

I believe in friendship, honest to god salt of the earth friendship.

I believe I have tons of love to give.

Love, Dee

Pizza, Posies and Popsicles

Good Morning Pretties,

It's summer and my hope is that you are all soaking up the long days and smiling in the sunshine. Talk about a few of my favorite things... I'm almost positive this post covers three of life's best simple pleasures! Za, Blooms and Ice Pops...and all on wheels!!!

Charleston has so many mobile wonders, but have discovered the below? You can find Roadside Blooms, Coastal Crust and King of Pops at local farmer's markets all over town! Click on the Facebook links under each logo to see if these guys are coming down your street anytime soon. Enjoy :)

Where will Roadside Blooms stop next?

See where Coastal Crust will be next!

King of Pops might be near you!

Just wanted to remind everyone about our Second Annual Eats, Sweets and Treats Happy Hour benefiting My Sister's House

This May local retails in Mount Pleasant (Dee Ruel, Salty Girls, II Brunettes and Christina Jervey Jewelry) will be giving back to the women of our community in celebration of Mother's Day. Please join us for a night of fun, food and friends.

My Sister's House is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization servicing victims in Berkely, Charleston and Dorchester Counties. MSH offers free and confidential services, food, shelter, programs and counseling for victims of domestic violence and their children. We aim to raise $6,000 to donate to My Sister's House from our generous retails and you this Mother's Day!

Each Happy Hour Event will feature sweet treats and champagne.  The donation truck from My Sister's House will be on site to collect unwanted clothing and household items. A survivor of domestic abuse will also be at each event to tell their personal story.

We will have a $10 and $20 cash raffle featuring items from our retails all night long as well as some other fun surprises you don't want to miss! Every penny raised will go directly to the woman and children of My Sister's House.

Please pass along to family and friends! We hope to see you there.

If you cannot make it to either event but would still like to give, here is a link for online donations. We along with the women at My Sister's House appreciate your support!

Kelly & Logan 4.6.13

Good Morning Pretties,

Today's real wedding post is near and dear to my heart. Not only do I la la LOVE Hyer Images, got to spend a weekend with Trish assisting (sorta) with Violet Floral Design, but I witnessed the new Mrs. Kelly Smith Hewitt marry her high school sweetheart. Kelly was the first shop girl I hired here at Dee Ruel. I've known her since she was only in high school, she is like family to me and has grown into the most beautiful woman both on the inside and out. Kelly and her sweet Logan tied the knot under a very special oak tree on her grandparent's property in Yemassee, South Carolina. The sky was blue, the bride and groom were smitten in love just like two high school prom dates and Trish and I were honored to be part of her day. Enjoy a few floral, paper and jewelry shots below.
